For over one century, the beautiful Borromeo Gulf, a remarkable blend of art and nature, has enchanted visitors from all over the world.
Majestic villas, lush gardens, and luxury belle époque or baroque hotels are the legacy of an era that has been witness to wealthy bourgeois visitors including nobles, kings, writers, and artists.
In the middle of the Gulf are the three Borromean Islands: Isola Superiore (or Pescatori), Isola Bella, and Isola Madre. Three most evocative locations: the first with its little medieval village characterised by narrow alleyways, the others with their sumptuous palaces and gardens with a wealth of rare plants, exotic flowers, peacocks, and fountains.
And mountains are all around, with their splendid views and ample opportunities for trekking.
Among them, you can visit the National Val Grande Park, the largest wilderness area in the entire Alps.
There are endless possibilities for practising sports at every level: golf, sailing, trekking, cycling, canoeing, hang gliding, and para-gliding, and more..

Nature, sport, music, art

Stresa is situated in a breathtaking panoramic location, overlooking Lake Maggiore.
Its wonderful lakefront takes in views of the spectacular Borromean Islands and the snow-covered mountains while its lush vegetation in parks and gardens, and its mild climate, makes it one of the most famous resorts on Lake Maggiore.

Stresa also owes its international fame to its lively musical and cultural events, its huge choice of walking paths and excursions, and its wealth of works of art here and in the surrounding region.

The surrounding territory is a source of many emotions: they range from the majesty of Monte Rosa to the extraordinary architectural and cultural phenomenon represented by Sacro Monti (sacred mountains), which are Unesco heritage sites.

Stresa is very popular in summer, but is also splendid in spring and autumn, when the clear light renders the colours much more vivid.

Stresa is easy to reach either by car, plane (Malpensa airport is very close) or by train from many locations.
